Blog Assignment #5: Big Brother Is Watching You
The world is getting mad! All over the world goverments are talking about the threaths of terrorism. Leaders all over the world are talking about more restrictions and more surveillance. But is that democracy? I don´t think so. It´s to give up the freedom that a true democracy stands for! It´s a symptom of fear and I think it just shows how scared we are. I think we surrender to the terorrists, that they have the power to scare the hell out of us, if we keep going on with this security mania.
Personally, I think that we have to change other things in the world to protect us from terrorist attacks. We need to struggle for a more equal society. We can´t go on and live in a society were there are super rich people and super poor. This creates of course a lot of feelings that will get back on to our western lifestyle. In our welthy lifestyle, we use earth resources in an ignorant way. We take for granted things that a lot of people in the world are not even close to. This ignorance are striking back on us in an violent way. Maybe we should be more humble an open up our eays for all the injustice in the world, and see how we have provide and provides to it.
Life is not safe, how bad you want it. In my world this total survielliance hysteria is out of control. I cant se anything good about it.

Grades
From day one, we are valuated as human beings. It starts the moment we are born and it continues our whole lives. It is sad somehow, because the valuation of others, lies in the eye of the beholder. When we as children start school, is our expectations are of various kind. In a early stage we will be aware of what is expected of us, what the rules are, but we have no idea what we should expect from our teachers. Nowadays, the discussions about the grades importance for the students or not, one of the main topics when it comes to the Swedish school politic. To follow the debate that goes on in the society today, can (in my opinion) be compared to walk into a timecapsuel that will take you back to the "not so good old days".
First of all I think it´s a short cut for the politicians to cry out for diciplin and an earlier grade system. It seems pretty desperate to strive for a solution that will bring the educational system backwards. To belive that you have better control over what the pupils actually learn in school if you introduces grades in primary school, are to fooling yourself. Grades have always been a kind of tool that is used for to "scare" pupils in doing better. But is that education?
The politicians must know by now that the school system needs more resources like; more teachers, smaller classes, an upgraded education for the teachers, valuation of the teachers capability to educate and to implement the feeling of being in control of your own education as a student. This will lead us to a school where the content of teaching is the primary and not the pursuit of early rating goal.
Second of all I think that bad results reflects how well the school and the teachers have succeded to provide an education that will leed the students to satisfactory results. When we talk about bad grades, we always see the student as a problem. I would say that it is time to turn that mirror around and look at the whole system, before we "punish" the students with a early grade system. Personally, I think that grades tells me nothing about what that person really are capable of. When I was a kid, grades did not only stand for an valuation of your accomplishment in school. It also stood for a social ratings accounted for the grading of your "social class". In some strange way, the children who belonged to what the teacher thought was "the upper class", always had high or higher grades, although their results were not better than the workingclass boy or girl. This injustice was in fact quite common which of course could always be justified by the teacher. I think that many children felt unfairly treated. The school let you know that you should belong to your class and not think that you could "be something", even if your study results were good. This was a side of the class society which then prevailed, a class society that I believe that we increasingly are on our way back to (more or less), which reflects a individualistic social climate that currently prevails.
So lets not go back to the "not so good old days", lets go forward.

Ignorence, is the word for it! We are all ignorent more or less. Somehow we does´nt think it will happen to us. It is to big of a problem to handle. You think that your actions against globel warming is a tiny percent of a bigger problem and it does´nt matter in the long run, what you provide with; It is still to little. I think people feel helpless in this situation. It is to big, to complicated for us to handle, so we stck our head into the sand and pretend nothings wrong.
The second aspect is money. Money talks, as they say. The greed for money overshadows the need for humanity to other people. Everyone talk about the undeveloped countries and how dirty everything is and the mountains of garbaged they have. But does the western world wants the undeveloped countries to progress?? I don´t think so. The amount of money we have helped those countries with and nothing happens. We steal their natural resources and use the cheap laboure, leave the garbage and care less for the people in the country. The undeveloped countries contributes less then any other countries in the world to the gobal warming. So do we really want them to develope? Well..... What would it do to the world if 1 billion people get their own car? It is a cynical world we live in.
The third aspect is: Are we willing to live a simpler life? How would the society look like if we didn´t consumed as much? The world economy is built on a tradition of spending. We live and grow up in a world that is based on consuming more and more. We have a economy crises that reflects what happens when people cannot spend money anymore.
There are many aspects to why we don´t want to see. We have to find a way to live and valuate our daily life differently. We also have to reconsidered the value of spending.

My TV addiction.
Belive it or not, but I am addicted to a soap opera. I have followed it since it started in Swedish televison. None of my friends like it and thinkI´m totally mad, but I can´t stop watching. My world almost stop, every day at 17.30. No food to the children and no answerings of phones. So never call me at 17.30!! I know everything about this family, from the first wedding to the last divorce. The characters are the same but the actors have changed over the past 15 years. (which is very disturbing by the way) The actors are terrible. I can understand why I never have seen them in another movie or series. They really sucks, but somehow I JUST HAVE TO WATCH IT!!! If I would be in a gameshow this would be my topic: GLAMOUR and everything about the Forresters family.
My first TV memory was when man walked on the moon. I was only three years old and my grandmother told me: - Now, something remarkable going to happen Ing-Marie. Something that is going to change the world. Something you always going to remember
Then I saw how Amstrong were standning there with his flag. On the moon. And my grandmother was right, I have never forgotten it.

Children and the world
I think that the most important thing for children are to experience love and respect from people around them. If they do, I think they will grow up like loving and respectfull individuals who can accept and tolerate differences around them.
The main goal for us parents should be to raise our children with care, love and respect. So the children can grow as individuals, beliving themselves and become independent human beings. I want my son to grow as a person and be a loving and caring man as he grows up. I want him to be able to see all the possibilities around him. I also think that I have a responsibility to guide my son in a world where everything is moving faster and faster, were people more and more are thinking of themselves. My task is to learn him to recognize that not all of us has a good life. There are people in the world less fortunate, and we need to show solidarity to them.
Otherwise, I think that the children of today are remarkable individuals. They adapt in a society that is moving very fast and that is changing from one day to another. It´s us that need to slow things down for the children. Do we really need everything? Do we need to go on holidays abroad every year? We are the one who sets the standards. Then we accuse our children to be spoiled, when we are the one to blame.
I think that we should all take a step back and look how we live our lives. Children need time, love , respect and care. It is how we adults distribute our time that are important for how children feel today.
Some thoughts from me.
